However, with an increase in the number of devices per household, the need for improved setups has arisen. Ways to setup Linksys Velop AC1300
Setting up your Linksys Velop Intelligent Mesh WiFi system 3-Pack White (AC1300) is easier than pronouncing its name. The Linksys wireless app and the web-based UI can be used to configure the network settings easily.
Linksys Velop Smartphone App
The Linksys app guides you through different steps using an animated guide. It identifies the nodes that need to be set up automatically, thus making the entire process secure, seamless and simple. To proceed with this method, you’ll need to have the latest version of the Linksys app installed on your smartphone. You can download and install the same from your device’s respective app store.
Web-based UI
The parent node’s web interface can help you set up your Linksys Velop Intelligent Mesh WiFi system 3-Pack White (AC1300) as well. You can also use this method when you face trouble using the Linksys app. If you decide to proceed with this method, ensure that your computer/wireless device is connected to the Linksys Velop network. This is because, the web-based UI is based on the device server. And, unless you are connected to its network, you won’t be able to access the settings page.

For iOS devices
- Firstly download and install the Linksys App on your smartphone from the App Store. If you already have the app installed, ensure it is on the latest version.
- Then connect the main DSL line/MODEM to the parent node. Attach the power cables and plug them into the power outlet. Allow the devices to power on and the power LED to turn solid purple.
- Now, launch the Linksys app and tap on ‘Set up a New WiFi network.’
- The app will prompt you to enable Bluetooth. Tap on the ‘Turn on Bluetooth’ button. If you do not wish to use Bluetooth, tap on the ‘I would rather set up without Bluetooth’ button.
- On the ‘Terms and Conditions’ page, tap on the ‘Agree’ button.
- On the next page, select the Velop device type from among the group of devices being displayed.
- Tap on the ‘It’s Plugged in’ button on the next page. Place your node in the open so it is detectable by the smartphone and tap ‘Next’ on the screen.
- Select ‘It’s in the open’ option and then ‘It’s connected.
What’s next?
- The Linksys app will now wake up your node. Make sure it is plugged in securely and the smartphone is nearby.
- After a few minutes, the parent node connected to the modem will start to blink purple. When it does, tap on ‘Yes, it’s blinking purple.’
Note: If it doesn’t, tap ‘No, It’s not blinking purple’ and turn off other Linksys nodes if they are powered on. Now try connecting to the parent node again. Finally the parent node has been configured, you can power them back on.
- Once you tap on ‘Yes, It’s blinking purple,’ the app will look for an internet connection. Once it is detected, you can restart your parent node and get started with accessing the internet.
Note: If you have any ISP settings, you can tap ‘Do you have ISP settings to enter?’ and follow the app instructions accordingly.
Linking the Parent Node to the Linksys Cloud Account
- Once the parent node has restarted and the app detects it, you will be redirected to the Linksys account login page. You can log in to the same if you already have one, or create a new Linksys account using the ‘Create an Account’ page.
- Once you are logged in to the page, the node will be linked to the account automatically. You can check the linking status online.
- On the next page, you can customize the Linksys Velop network. Specify an SSID and assign a strong password for the same. Finally, tap on the ‘Next’ button.
The Linksys app will now begin to configure your wireless network. The status of the same shall be displayed on the device screen.
- Select the location where you wish to install your parent node at and tap on the ‘Next’ button now. You can also customize the node’s name. To do that, tap on the ‘Name it something else’ button and type a name you wish to keep. Finally, click on the ‘Next’ button.
- The Linksys app will now display the internet connection status on the screen. Finally, tap on the ‘Next’ button.
Adding a Child Node
The Linksys app will now redirect you to the ‘Add a node?’ page. This is where you can connect the child nodes to the parent nodes and create a mesh network. Follow these steps:
- When prompted to add a node, tap on the ‘Add a node’ button that you see on the page.
- On the next page, tap on ‘To extend my wifi using a new child node.’
- Read through the instructions being displayed on how to place the child node and tap on the ‘Next’ button.
- Ensure the child node is powered on and is discoverable and tap on the ‘Next’ button.
- The app will now detect the child node and ask you to specify the status when the LED on it blinks purple. Once it does, tap on the ‘Yes, it’s blinking purple’ button.
- Network settings from the parent node will now be applied to the child node. The app will display the status of your child node position. Tap on the ‘Next’ button.
- Select a name for your new child node and tap on the ‘Next’ button again.
Note: You can also name the child node according to its location in the house like Links_Bedroom, Links_Kitchen, Links_LR, etc. To do that, tap on the ‘Name it something else’ button. Doing so will make it easier to identify the node in case it malfunctions.
- The child node is now successfully added to the Linksys Mesh Network. Tap on the ‘Next’ button to proceed.
You can now repeat these steps to add the second child node to the network. Once it is done, you will have successfully configured the Linksys Velop Intelligent Mesh WiFi system 3-Pack White (AC1300).
