Linksys with its range of products have taken the networking world by storm. Among all of its products is the Linksys Velop series, which has also seen major improvements over time. Recently, Velop received a new update which means it has already entered the full bridge mode with numerous features and is going to lure users into buying more of its services. This update which we are talking about is a firmware update in which a “Schedule Parental Control” feature has been added along with a provision of the full bridge mode to the Velop Wi-Fi system. These updates in turn have made the wifi system more powerful, capable and reliable.
Changes That The Update Will Bring
This update was perceived as very crucial for the velop system as it has allowed it to work as a part of the existing network. This network can be powered by a modem/router combo gateway rather than a separate module of its own and is generally termed as Double-NAT. Now, Full Bridge mode puts the device into a condition where the Velop functions as an individual system despite having its satellites or nodes in action. Wi-FI systems such as Google Wi-Fi and more work in bridge mode as well, but their ability to work in bridge only comes to light when they use a single hardware unit.
Single Bridge Mode hinders users from making the most out of their Velop as the original router is responsible for managing the home network. They are not able to access the complete feature set.
Linksys in their statements had said that the Velop functions as a dynamic tri-band system and can make use of any of its 2.4GHz or the 5GHz network bands to deliver a strong and reliable internet connection to its users at all times. Furthermore, full bridge mode in Velop won’t affect the support for Amazon Alexa and the ability of the device to make firmware updates automatically.
What To Expect?
When Velop was launched for the first time, it was considered as a fast and agile home mesh system, although on the expensive side. Fast forward to now, things have changed and the price of the velop three-unit system has declined. This update will make things more competitive between Wi-Fi systems. Besides, a new feature that this update brings to the table- the parental control scheduler has been integrated not only in Velop series but the entire Linksys range of networking products including the app-enabled routers as well. These routers will include the new Linksys WRT and will be called Max-Stream routers with auto-firmware update capabilities.
If you are using a Linksys Velop router or any of the router devices discussed above, the firmware of your device may automatically get updated from now on. In case, that doesn’t take place, the service will begin soon as there are not many people who have been observed doing it manually.
