Resolving WiFi connection issues

The Wi-Fi connectivity among your wireless devices may be affect by obstructions and incompatible security settings. Here are some steps you can follow to alleviate WiFi connection issues:

Router/WiFi devices need refresh

Power cycle your wifi router to refresh the wifi connection. Power off the router and unplug the power cord from it. Allow some 10 seconds and plug the cord back in. Turn on the power supply and make sure the Power LED is solid white.

Distance from the router

For stable wifi connectivity, make sure your computer/smartphone is within range of the wireless router. If there’s interference from neighboring wireless devices sucah as microwaves, cordless phone, etc. relocate them to a different place. You can also try changing the WIreless router channel.

Incorrect password

If you are connecting to a secured wireless network, you will need the correct WPA2-PSK security key/password. If the same has been changed/altered, you will see errors while trying to access the same. You can check the password by logging in to the velop setup wizard and crosschecking the details.

Dropping/Choppy Video Streaming

If you are playing videos on high quality resolution or use the network to play video games or do high-intensity tasks, it is advised to move to the 5GHz band than the 2.4GHz one. However, you will only be able to connect to the 5GHz band, if they support the same. If not, you can try changing the Network Mode on your router. Changing to the mixed mode will help prevent the wireless interference that contributes to lagging or streaming problems.

You’ll need to sign in to the Linksys velop setup wizard and change the settings. Head to the Wireless tab once logged in and select the manual configuration. From the drop down menu that you see, change the Channel to 1,3,6,9,11 for your 2.4GHz band. If you are using the dual-band version of the Linksys Velop setup, you can set the 5GHz band channel to 40 or 161. Save the changes and restart your router once.

Dropping WiFi Connection

Low signal quality from the wireless router, interference from other wireless devices or obstructions from physical objects can cause issues with the wifi connection quality. The signal strength indicator on your computer can tell you about the percentage of signals your device/computer is able to receive. If you notice any issues with the same, follow the necessary measures.
Additionally, you can try updating the computer drivers. Once updated, restart your computer and then try again accessing the wireless network.
