Unlike traditional routers, the Linksys Velop WHW03 covers your entire home with wifi signals. Using the mesh technology, it can deliver seamless internet connectivity throughout your home. The mesh router system is efficient and can help you get all-around network coverage at all times. If you have recently upgraded to the WHW03 router system, and need help with setting things up, this blog is what you need to read. Read through the steps to access the login page and then configure router network settings easily.
Requirements For The Setup
Before you begin with the setup process, you will need access to some equipment like spare ethernet cables, and details including the default admin username and the password.
Default admin settings can be found on the product label of the device. The default web address to access the login page is http://www.myrouter.local or https://www.linksyssmartwifi.com. Once you have these details, you can proceed with these steps for the setup process.
Linksys WHW03 setup using the web-based wizard
- Connect your Linksys WHW03 router to the main DSL modem using an ethernet cable. Plug one end into the router’s LAN port and the other to the ethernet port on the modem.
- Connect the power cords to the devices and power on the devices. Allow them to boot up and notice the power LED turning solid.
- Once devices are ready, open the wireless network settings on your device and look for the WHW03 network SSID. Select the same and type in the default password to connect to the network.
- Once your computer is connected to the Linksys router network, launch a web browser and in the address bar, type the default web address http://linksyssmartwifi.com and press Enter. You can also use the default IP address 192.168.1.1.
- You will now be redirected to the Linksys WHW03 login wizard. Then you will see fields for the username and the password become visible. Type in the details in their respective fields and then click on the Login button.
Configuring The Network Settings
- Once you are logged in to the router setup wizard, the router will attempt to identify your internet connection type. Agree to the Terms and Conditions when asked.
- The next screen will show you different device groups. Select the one that belongs to your Velop router system.
- From the home screen, click on the Connectivity optionunder the router settings.
- Select the Internet Settings tab and then select the Connection type from the dropdown list. It is recommended that you keep Automatic Configuration-DHCP as the right connection type. Click on the Apply button.
- Once the parent node is online, go to the Velop setup tab and type in the SSID and password for the network. Once defined, click on the Setup Node button.
- Check the computer’s Wi-Fi connection. Once the WiFi settings have been saved on the node, connect to the new WiFi name of the Velop network to continue with the setup.
Important Note: Clicking on the Setup Node button will make changes to the wireless settings and the device mode will be set to Master.
- You can now add the child nodes to the network. Simply power on the nodes you wish to add, one by one, and proceed with the setup. To add, click on the Add Wireless Child Nodes button.
- Once the child nodes have been added, you can relocate them to corners around your home.
Adding The Linksys Cloud Account
